This original drawing of Elvis Presley is rooted in my fascination with figures whose presence feels inseparable from sound, movement, and moment. Elvis exists as more than a recognisable face, he evokes early television, record sleeves, stage lights, and a particular energy that feels fixed to its time.

For me, Elvis is also personal. He was a constant in my childhood, largely through my dad, who loved his music. Those songs, images, and references became part of the background of growing up. Returning to Elvis as a subject carries that sense of inheritance and memory, shaped as much by association as by image.

The drawing is constructed slowly using premium coloured pencils, working through a pixelated structure that simplifies form while holding onto expression.
