This pixel portrait of Marilyn Monroe comes from familiarity rather than reinterpretation. It's a face I've returned to for years, not to modernise or reinvent, but because certain images just stay with you.
The pixel format reduces detail while preserving recognition. What's lost in resolution is replaced by our memory of that face, sitting somewhere between distance and closeness, clarity and abstraction.

I grew up on Queen. A little town in Scotland, my parents playing the records far louder than the house could take, no sense at all that this was unusual. I still have that vinyl.
So this one wasn't a decision so much as an inevitability.
