Marilyn in Grey

from £85.00

Signed limited-edition archival giclée print.

MARILYN, DRAWN ONE SQUARE AT A TIME.

Try her on your wall for 30 days. If she isn't right, return her for a full refund.

A hand-drawn pixel portrait built from an original coloured-pencil drawing, then reproduced as a signed, numbered archival giclée print. Up close she is abstract; from across the room, unmistakably Marilyn.

Step back and she appears.

  • Signed and individually numbered

  • Museum-quality giclée print

  • Certificate of authenticity included

  • Free worldwide delivery

Fixed edition, closing 31 December 2026. Each size is a separate numbered edition and will not be extended, resized, reprinted, or reissued after the closing date.

  • Small — 8 × 10 in / 20 × 25 cm — edition of 40 — £85. For a desk, shelf, or hallway.

  • Most popular — 16 × 20 in / 40 × 50 cm — edition of 20 — £165. Recommended balance of scale, detail, and value.

  • Statement — 24 × 32 in / 60 × 81 cm — edition of 8 — £395. A room-defining piece.

Not sure which size? Most people choose the 16 × 20. It's the size where the pixels do what they're supposed to do- abstract up close, unmistakably her from across the room. The 8 × 10 is a smaller piece for a desk, a shelf or a hallway. The 24 × 32 is the one that owns the room, and only eight people will ever own it.

If you're wavering, tell me about your wall and I'll give you an honest answer. I'd rather send you the right one than the expensive on.

Framed & ready to hang:

Prefer not to sort the framing yourself? Choose the framed option and I'll do it for you.

Framed prints are available in black, white, light wood or dark wood and are presented with a double mount and anti-glare finish as shown in the photograph above. The double mount gives the artwork some breathing space from the frame and creates a clean, finished presentation.

Your print will arrive framed and ready to hang.

This is my straightforward ready-to-hang framing option rather than bespoke conservation framing. If you'd prefer specialist or conservation framing, simply choose your print unframed and take it to your preferred framer.

Marilyn in Grey:

This pixel portrait of Marilyn Monroe comes from familiarity rather than reinterpretation. It's a face I've returned to for years, not to modernise or reinvent, but because certain images just stay with you.

The pixel format reduces detail while preserving recognition. What's lost in resolution is replaced by our memory of that face, sitting somewhere between distance and closeness, clarity and abstraction.

Every square is placed by hand. Nothing is generated, traced or printed onto the original. The joke of it is that months of careful analogue work produce something most people assume a computer made in a second.

What comes with it:

Up By Teatime — hanging strips, so it goes up the day you have your frame.

The Story Card — the short version of how it was made, for when someone stands in front of it and asks.

Certificate of Authenticity — signed, numbered, edition size stated.

The Upgrade Credit — buy a print now and the full price comes off the original if you buy it within twelve months.

Your Number, Kept — own number 12 of Marilyn and number 12 of Freddie, Twiggy and Elvis is held for you before each one goes public.

Guarantee:

Live With It. Thirty days on your actual wall. If she doesn't belong there, send her back and I'll refund you, return postage included. No forms, no awkward email.

There By The Date, Or It's On Me. Buying it as a gift? Tell me the date. If it misses, you get a full refund and you keep the print.

Arrives Perfect. Damaged in transit is my problem, not yours. Replaced, no photographs of the packaging required.

The Numbers Are The Numbers. 40, 20 and 8. This edition will never be extended, reprinted, resized or reissued in any format. Ever.
